Emergence 3:490:00/3:49
One figure that came up again and again in my more imaginative meditations for years was a young shaman that was grieving by an outdoor campfire in a field in a forest. For years, I sat and breathed with him, until one day, something shifted in him, and he felt ready to move forward into a new phase.
On the album cover you see the young shaman at the corner of the Field. He is watching and imagining himself dancing n the field, a field full of potential, in this case for dancing. The different silhouettes in the painting represent his journey from hardship and crisis to digestion/processing and lastly to liberation, freedom and joy! He also feels creative freedom in knowing that the dances he can do in the field are limitless.
In this album, I improvise over many sections of the different compositions. There is freedom, sacredness and aliveness to improvisation and also an attunement to what is being called for in the present.
I came to care about this young shaman and to understand that he hopes for a diverse and more conscious community of people that come to appreciate on another's uniqueness, and to live together in harmony in the sacredness of nature. After so many years of disappointments, he feels willing to try again to join and build a community of kind and more conscious people.
